WordPress Comparisons

Amongst day four activities, both Wix and Weebly were evaluated for their accessibility and functionality. Though both resources were easy to use at a beginner’s level, some features provided were limited according to the user’s pricing budget. All three resources offer various advanced features and templates, though one may be required to buy a subscription to access more features and templates. Wix asks the user what kind of website they would like to create, with a drop-list of options available to choose from. The most economical package to choose from with Wix costs $17 a month, whilst the most expensive package to choose from with Wix costs $159 a month. The business elite package offered has the most features available, whilst the light package offered has the basic level features available. Weebly allows you to choose if you are creating a personal website or a business website. Weebly has several themes to choose from depending on the use one is seeking to build their website. Weebly’s most economical package to choose from costs $10 a month, whilst the most expensive package to choose from costs $72 a month.

WordPress Use Reflection

WordPress is an accessible and beginner-friendly tool to use when creating a website. There were several templates to choose from, though I decided to stick to the Twenty-Eleven theme due to its simplicity. As one navigates WordPress and continues to ‘play around’ with it, one will discover that its functionality is quite simplistic compared to others. Mainly everything one may need to organize their website will be found under the dashboard tab. If one is uncertain about what steps to take next, it is easiest to go through each tab one by one. As one continues to customize their website, they can edit things such as the text font, background, typography, appearance, and content available to display. Initially, it is my family’s lifelong dream to open up our dining establishment called “El Coqui”, a Puerto Rican cuisine. I tried to play around with WordPress to obtain experience for when I have the opportunity and blessing to create a website for our restaurant.
